Philippines

- The Philippines is known for having an abundance of beautiful beaches and delicious fruit. The collection of islands is located in Southeast Asia and was named after King Philip II of Spain.

- Philippines is made up of 7,641 islands, making it one of the largest archipelagos in the world. But more than 5,000 of the islands remain unnamed on most international maps.

- Three of the 10 largest shopping malls in the world are located in the Philippines.

- An iconic symbol of the country is the jeepney, the colorfully painted buses with roots dating to World War II and the U.S. military's jeeps. But with growing pollution concerns, the classic jeepney may soon be replaced with more efficient electric vehicles.

- The Philippines is one of the world's largest producers of coconuts. Mangosteens, papayas and bananas can also be found there.

- The world's largest pearl was discovered by a Filipino diver in the Palawan Sea. The 75-pound pearl is valued at $100 million.

Asia Pacific

- Over the last 20 years, the Asia-Pacific region has continued to keep high economic growth rates exceeding those in other regions and has consequently come to be known as the "growth center" of the global economy. Over the coming years, it is expected to continue to enjoy the highest growth rates in the world and to serve as the engine of the world economy.

- Asia is a continent of fascination, perplexity, and uniqueness. Covering one-third of the entire world's land area, Asia is a vast continent. This exigently makes it one of the most populous areas on the planet. It is well known for its cultures, population, economies, animals, and plants.

- One of the interesting facts is that both the lowest point, Dead Sea (-395 meters), and the highest point, Mt. Everest (8,848 meters) are found in Asia.

Africa

- South Africa is very rich in, and well known for, it’s many diverse cultures. This colorful mix of cultures gives South Africa its nickname "rainbow nation."

- The V and A Waterfront isn’t the only place for activities, South Africa has so many. Being famous for its wine industry, the majority of its vineyards are located just outside of Cape Town, Stellenbosch, Paarl and Franschoek are just some that one should venture to.

Europe

- Europe is the second smallest continent in size but the third largest in population. The European continent houses land area of 50 countries. However, of these 50 countries only 44 have their capital city on the European continent.

- Europe, itself often referred to as 'the old continent', is home to the greatest variety of country aliases.

- The Volga River in Russia is Europe's longest river. It is 3,692 km/ 2,295 miles long.

- the port of Rotterdam in the Netherlands is the largest and busiest container port in Europe.

- Norway has the longest coastline in Europe with over 100,000 km/ 62,000 miles; and it is the second longest in the world.

North America

- The only continent in the world that has all climatic types. It has savanna and tropical rainforest in Central America, tundra in the northern parts of Canada and Alaska, and a permanent ice cap in Greenland. There are also semi-arid and desert conditions near areas surrounded by high mountains.

- The third largest continent in size and the fourth largest when we consider population. The North American continent houses 23 countries.

North America was first populated about 10,000 years ago when people moved across the Bering Sea between Siberia and Alaska. First records are found on the island of Greenland from about 980.

South America

- The world's second-largest swimming pool.

- Home to the world's highest uninterrupted waterfall, Angel Falls in Venezuela; the highest single-drop waterfall Kaieteur Falls in Guyana; the largest river by volume, the Amazon River; the longest mountain range, the Andes (whose highest mountain is Aconcagua at 6,962 m or 22,841 ft)

- When McDonald’s first opened in La Paz, Bolivia in 1997, it was welcomed with a lot of excitement and long queues of people to get in. Only a few years later, in 2002, the fast-food chain closed all eight restaurants in the country for good.

- South America has a stunning array of architectural wonders, where cobblestone streets lead past magnificent cathedrals, photogenic plazas, and brightly painted townhouses – some of which date to the 16th century.

- South America's cities are home to first-rate museums, top-notch restaurants and rocking nightlife. You can shop at atmospheric markets, cozy up at an art-filled cafe or spend the day exploring charming neighborhoods.
